"Shit! I gotta fix this fuck-up right now!"
— Vincent, determined to fix a fuck-up

Vincent Brooks (ヴィンセント・ブルックス Vinsento Burukkusu), occasionally nicknamed Vince, is the protagonist of Catherine and its remake Catherine: Full Body.

Occupation-wise, Vincent works as a financially poor systems engineer for a technology company. He has books on HTML and C/C++, implying he specializes in website design. He doesn't need to wear a suit or a tie for his job, since he has no contact with his business's customers. As a coder who specializes in technology, he mainly works at home, but he still visits the office of his technology firm when it's necessary, and his boss is in contact with him. Vincent lives in, in his own words, a "fucking dump of a city". Vincent has little ambition in his life and no major life goals, but it seems that's the way he likes it: easy-going, simple, riskless and carefree. His only goal seems to be drifting aimlessly through life.

While his girlfriend Katherine McBride wants him to settle down and marry her, he is apprehensive as he still wants the freedom of the single life, despite living his 20s without any concrete plans for the future. Vincent is a lifelong stereotypical bachelor trying to escape the pressures of adult life: his job, his love life, and the prospect of marriage.

After meeting the enigmatic Catherine, his life is dragged into a waking - and sleeping - nightmare. He becomes an indecisive bachelor who is swept away by the actions of the two women in his life, and is forced to question his love for Katherine while dealing with his tryst with Catherine.

In Full Body, Vincent meets another named Rin, turning the original game's love triangle into a love square.

Design[]

Vincent has a slender build. He has asymmetrical shaggy black hair, pale blue eyes, and a little bit of facial hair or stubble.

He wears a tan jacket with "Italian Stallion Rider Equipment Since 2009" on the left shoulder. There are vertical red, white and green stripes on the front left side, which seems to represent the flag of Italy. Underneath, he wears a pink t-shirt with RA💘E on it. He wears dark red-brown pants and brown dress shoes.

While sleeping, he wears nothing but white boxers with pink polka dots. When he becomes sucked into the nightmares, he has grown ram horns.

Personality[]

"Society's all about patience and self-sacrifice, right? I mean, everyone practically kills themselves to stay safely within the "herd." But... I hate that life. Even if it means I'm going astray myself."
— Vincent to Catherine

Catherine An Introduction to Vincent Brooks

An introduction to Vincent Brooks.

Vincent is a textbook bachelor: his tiny apartment room is a mess, he has difficulty with commitment, and he spends almost all of his free time hanging out with his friends. Despite being extremely devoted, he is weak willed, and he's shown to be a very prolific liar under pressure as the love triangle forces him to spin a web of lies to keep the women from discovering each other. Depending on the player's actions, he will lie more often or less often, depending on who he is trying to keep in his life.

Orlando Haddick mentions that Vincent's always been popular with girls, even in grade school, and that Katherine is his third lucky streak in romance (the first two being grade school romances, and then Katherine). Vincent knows how to please women and be a good boyfriend, which was what attracted Katherine to him when they started dating.

Meter

Vincent making a tough decision.

Despite his qualities which may be interpreted as flaws, Vincent could be considered a "good" guy in many aspects. He feels genuine guilt about being with Catherine, who is later revealed to be a succubus, which would eliminate some of his blame. Catherine also makes suicidal threats to Vincent about how she'd "die" and be extremely angry if he cheated on her; and Vincent doesn't want her to self-harm, hurt or kill herself. He cares about both Katherine and Catherine very deeply and wants both of them to feel happy. He apologizes to Katherine in his dream and asks for forgiveness, showing how he feels remorse for his actions. The game also shows Vincent's thoughts and feelings, and it is quite evident that he is very confused in regards to doing the "right" thing, and wondering what the "right" thing is - if there even is one.

Vincent becomes a cheater, as he unable to let go of Catherine and stop the affair because he is unsure of what he wants out of life, as he is uncertain whether or not he wants a more carefree and fun life with Catherine with no optional responsibility, or a more serious job and money-seeking oriented life with Katherine. It does not help that Catherine is a succubus who manifests as his ideal beautiful woman and it is implied they have enjoyable sex, a concern manifested in Vincent's dream when Catherine says Katherine probably can't satisfy him anymore with in this area. Katherine's pregnancy, which eventually transformed into a lie-of-omission from her as it was a false alarm she didn't want to tell Vincent because he was afraid he might leave her, motivates Vincent into breaking up with Catherine, as he realizes ditching Katherine to become a single mother alone would be stressful and cruel to her. This shows where Vincent's boundaries are, as well as his altruism.

VincentThreaten

Vincent threatens Boss with an ice pick.

Vincent is a fairly perceptive friend, but doesn't seem to know his limits or boundaries in conversations. He can be very confrontational toward others, even getting physical at his breaking point. He's also very blunt toward Erica Anderson about her status, and tends to snap at people when they patronize or disrespect him, implying he may be sensitive when it feels like he is being devalued. In Full Body, Vincent mentions everyone tells him what to do with his life, and he's come across lots of women who only care about how much he is "worth", implying that he feels objectified and used by women at times, something he is able to relate to with Archie Wallace.

Despite him and Erica being friends, Vincent may be interpreted as transphobic and not well-versed in LGBT-related topics. This is likely due to Vincent being brought up in an era and culture with a lack of positive (or potentially any) LGBT education. Catherine is set in the early 21st century, as evident by his flip phone, meaning Vincent was probably born in the 1970s/1980s, so it is something to keep in mind when Vincent acts bigoted. He may be the one who said something offensive to her in high school and hurt her feelings to the point where rumors spread that Erica killed herself. While they are on fine relations in the present, he still seems unaccepting. Examples of Vincent's attitude towards her include:

VincentSavage

Vincent not accepting Erica being a woman.

  • She expresses interest in joining a women's wrestling team, which Vincent claims would be impossible. She misunderstands and says that she's strong, but Vincent explains they wouldn't let her in in the first place, despite that many teams allow transpeople, showing his nescience/ignorance when it comes to trans issues.
  • Erica tells Vincent he needs to learn how a girl's heart works and how a woman is always hoping someone will come sweep them away. Vincent then comments, quite savagely, that "[he'd] be more convinced if a woman was telling [him] this."
  • Vincent may say "Don't mess around, man" to Erica which is unusual and can be insulting since he knows of her status.[1]
  • Most of the time, everyone addresses Erica as "she," and she shows a mild spike of anger when Vincent makes a reference to her not being a woman.

Vincent may be interpreted as a "manchild" due to various reasons, ranging from him being unable to "man up" about his affair, the way his room is a mess, the way he's often disrespectful to Erica, the way he spends his money carelessly to the point where Katherine needs to manage their finances, etc. In Full Body, Vincent tells Rin he's come across a lot of people who have told him to be more of a "man" or an "adult".

VincentCap1

Vincent looking gloomy.

Vincent may be interpreted as having mild depression or an existential crisis. This is especially shown in much of his facial expressions and body language as he does not smile or laugh much. He also has a remarkably slim figure with poor muscle tone for a man in his 30s, perhaps implying he has low testosterone which coincides with depression. Depressed people often feel unmotivated, lazy, drink a lot and have messy rooms, qualities which can be seen in Vincent.

VincentSittingDown

Vincent feeling unmotivated.

While Vincent is okay with the way his life is going with his friends and Katherine, it could be argued that there's some void in his life that he is unable to fulfill. He likely feels the need to escape the stresses of life, yet feels as if he doesn't "belong" or "fit in anywhere," shown by the way he's willing to give up his humanity and live with Catherine in the Underworld in certain endings. After his breakup with Katherine, Vincent wanders around his raining city looking very confused and disoriented, seemingly wondering what his purpose is in life, saying, "Dammit, what the hell am I supposed to do?"[2]

VincentTitle

"KATHERINE!"

Vincent could also be viewed as a "tortured" man; when the player first plays the game and every time after, the first image of Vincent is of him suffering, his girlfriend being unable to hear him, being tortured with barbed wired digging into his skin, and unable to be free. During the game, Vincent can be perceived as someone trapped in an abusive and violent relationship with Catherine; however, he can also be viewed as being trapped in a relationship with Katherine who can be viewed as a source of his unhappiness and him lacking freedom.

Vincent is an active drunk and perhaps an addict or an alcholic, often spending an entire night drinking at the Stray Sheep before going home and drinking more beer. This causes him to have constant hangovers and memory blackouts, which usually involve him (apparently) calling Catherine over for "company," which he claims not to remember at all. His drinking is also a strain on his finances, as Erica has had to cover for Vincent's drinks many times until he could pay later. Vincent's drink of choice is a variation of the Cuba Libre known as Rum and Coke (Rum and Cola in game). It is essentially the same thing as the Cuba Libre but without the lime.

Interests and hobby-wise;

  • Due to his interest in technology, computers and cell phones, Vincent could be considered something of a nerd. Katherine accuses him of wasting his money on electronic devices that she feels he doesn't really need.
Vincentphone

Amazing Universe

  • Vincent is very interested in space travel, and dreams of paying for a ride on a space shuttle, but fears that he will never be able to earn enough money to afford it. A "Space Tourism" poster can be seen hanging on the wall in his apartment, and his phone wallpaper is of a spaceship leaving Earth. This could also coincides with Vincent's characterization as someone unsatisfied with life in the human realm, as many people today and in the past dream of going to space for multiple reasons; galactic human domination, getting away from human society, searching for sentient life, etc. In the True Freedom ending, this wish comes true.
  • Vincent may be a Harry Potter fan as there is a book in his apartment called "Harlly Porter", but it seems to have been slightly changed for copyright reasons. If true, then this also coincides with his desires of escapism, as Harry Potter is viewed by many as being escapist fantasy.

Similar to many video game protagonists, especially protagonists in the Megami Tensei series, the player can choose many options, and create a wide-range of interpretations of Vincent. This is especially true with text messages. For example:

  • When Katherine suspects him drinking, he may reply "I'll make sure I don't drink enough to get a hangover", pretend he isn't there, or "You don't own me. Sometimes a man needs a drink, you know?"
  • When Katherine cleans his apartment without telling him prior, he may not care or say "Don't touch my stuff."
  • When the player receives text and photos from Catherine, Vincent may tell her to stop and ask her to never text him again ("I told you already! You can't keep doing this! Please stop sending me these pictures.") or indulge in them ("Niiiiiiiiiiice.")

History[]

Early life[]

A few references are made to Vincent's mother; she left a man she was dating for someone else, who is the one that fathered him. She left Vincent while he was in high school for yet another man.[3] Vincent comments that he never had a "happy" family, and the thought of having one sounded alien and unimaginable to him. He never speaks of his father, although in Full Body, Vincent mentions when he was a kid, he collected ninja erasers, but his parents thought his collection was trash and useless knick-knacks so they gave it away, which upset him because while they were unimportant to his parents, they meant a lot to him at the time.

HighSchoolGuys

Vincent (center) with Orlando and Jonny.

Vincent attended elementary school and high school with Katherine, Orlando, Erica, Jonny Ariga and Paul Miller. Vincent and Katherine's friendship was initially antagonistic, as Vincent and Orlando would often steal and eat Katherine's lunch. Though it upset her, she began giving Vincent her snacks, indicating that she had a crush on him. Daniel Kirsch also attended the same school. Daniel constantly felt in Vincent's shadow even as he looked up to him, and spent his childhood life tagging along and trying to fit in with him. This continued through his life.

Vincent and Katherine met again during their 10-year high school reunion. Afterwards when she was depressed, Vincent ran to her side in the middle of the night and comforted her. He found out that she was having dating problems and started to give her advice, but ended up falling for her himself. While seemingly romantic, Erica theorizes that Katherine only started dating him because her maternal instincts and dominant personality wouldn't allow her to leave a slacker like Vincent alone.

Despite being boyfriend and girlfriend, Vincent and Katherine don't live together for unknown reasons (possibly because of their workplace commutes), although she occasionally visits him to see how he's doing and drop off snacks.

The two have been in a steady relationship for the past 5 years, though Vincent isn't interested in taking it to the next level, and Katherine's parents have started to pressure her to marry. This doesn't sit well with Vincent, who is comfortable with their current standing and is afraid to fully commit to their relationship.

Catherine[]

VincentNightmare

Vincent and sheep in a nightmare.

Vincent starts the game being plagued with nightmares, where he is forced to climb a tower and face a different boss every night. These nightmares are the basis of a rumor circulating town about a curse, and have even killed an acquaintance/friend of Vincent's, Paul.

He begins by having a confrontation with Katherine about his unpaid overtime, as she is upset at him for his inability to stand up for himself. Katherine then brings up the possibility of both of them getting married. He dodges both issues and escapes to the Stray Sheep, where he complains to Toby, Jonny and Orlando about how he wants things to just stay the same.

Catherine-Header

Vincent and Catherine meet for the first time.

When they leave and he continues drinking, he is approached by Catherine, who seduces him with the thought that she's a girl who is just as terrified with commitment as him, and wants nothing more than her freedom.

He wakes up next to her with no recollection of anything that happened. She quickly leaves before he can tell her he's already in a relationship, and he spends the rest of his day discussing the affair and how he should handle it with his friends.

Katherine's_pregnancy

Katherine's pregnancy

Vincent hides Catherine from Katherine.

As time goes on, he keeps desperately finding ways to avoid both women finding out about each other, despite many close calls. Each night, he finds himself waking up next to Catherine. At one point, Katherine asks him to meet her for lunch for an important piece of news, where she tells him she thinks she's pregnant. Although stunned, he takes slight comfort in knowing nothing is certain yet. This doesn't last long, as Katherine soon tells him (while Catherine is secretly in his apartment) that she actually is pregnant.

One morning he awakens to a threatening phone call from a man named Steve Delhomme, who explains that he is Catherine's apparent boyfriend, and demands that Vincent stop seeing her. Frightened by the call but glad to finally have a firm reason to break up with her, he confronts Catherine, who explains she doesn't know anyone named Steve. Vincent then decides Steve must have meant Katherine, and he tries to deal with the implication she is cheating on him before confronting Katherine as well, who also denies knowing a Steve.

CatherineAbusive

Vincent being physically assaulted by Catherine for breaking up with her.

Things come to a head when he finally realizes he cannot continue with Catherine, and asks her to come to the Stray Sheep. He informs her that he is in a relationship with someone he got pregnant, and wished to tell her earlier, but he had difficulty. Catherine claims that he can continue being with her as long as Catherine is Vincent's "number one", which bothers Vincent. Though hurt and upset, Catherine is still desperate to stay with Vincent, but he says he can't see her anymore, causing her to cry. Catherine says "I'm going to die" and goes to the bathroom. Vincent follows her into the bathroom where she takes her anger and sadness out on him physically by beating him. He won't relent and ends up completely breaking things off, despite her protests.

Screenshot22

Vincent trying to mediate his two lovers as Catherine forces herself on him.

Satisfied about the breakup, he awakens the next morning with no nightmare, no Catherine in his bed, and Katherine at his door. He happily opens it, when Catherine shows up behind him and greets Katherine offering a cup of coffee; Katherine enters and demands to know what is going on. Katherine attempts to get answers from Vincent; after a heated exchange of insults between the two women, Katherine, due to Vincent's betrayal and Catherine's constant insults of her worthlessness to Vincent and Catherine's superiority to Katherine, snaps with despair and moves over the kitchen sink searching for a kitchen knife while still facing Vincent and Catherine but to no avail as Catherine predicted this and took the knife in advance.

CatherineDies

Catherine bleeds to death on the floor.

Vincent attempts to calm down Katherine by telling her that he had already called off his affair with Catherine, causing Catherine to snap with rage and jealousy and Catherine blames Katherine for Vincent's confusion. Catherine claims that if Katherine went away, Vincent could finally be free and attempts to kill Katherine with the kitchen knife. Vincent tries to defend Katherine and is cut non-fatally in his right lower rib cage. As Katherine dashes over the coffee table to escape, Catherine grabs Katherine's hair, shoves her to the floor and a struggle begins. Catherine ends up impaling her abdomen while seemingly having the upper-hand on Katherine while they are both on the ground. With Katherine hysterical, Vincent pulls her from the room only to emerge in a Nightmare with a monstrous version of Catherine chasing them.

At the end of the Nightmare, Katherine breaks down and admits she cannot continue on after Vincent's lies. He comforts her and tells her his true feelings. Katherine asks Vincent if he still thought about her during the affair, and Vincent says of course he did. After Vincent apologizes to Katherine, Katherine is still reluctant to escape. The area shakes and Katherine falls down, but Vincent jumps to cushion Katherine. Katherine asks Vincent a question, but doesn't finish it.

Vincent wakes up again in bed, and realizes everything about the entire Katherine and Catherine meeting had been a dream. Katherine is again at his door, this time to break up with him because of the affair and tell him the pregnancy was a mistake. Katherine admits that she found that her pregnancy was a false alarm, but didn't tell Vincent sooner despite her relief because she felt that he would leave her. Although she knew her mistakes, she was incredibly scared because his reactions didn't increase her confidence in him, making her question if he would rather leave her with the baby in order to not have to deal with the stress and commitment of being a father. Although Vincent claims he was happy about the news of her "pregnancy", Katherine is saddened because she isn't entirely convinced. Despite his best efforts to stop her, Katherine politely yet firmly breaks up with him and leaves his apartment. Devastated, he sinks into a depression.

VincentVsDumuzid

Vincent challenging Dumuzid (Boss).

Vincent, bemoaning his troubles to Orlando, discovers that all of Catherine's contact information and SMS messages (including several revealing photographs) have inexplicably disappeared from his phone. This leads his friends to admit that none of them have ever met or seen her, and causes him to doubt his sanity. Vincent, seeking evidence that Catherine exists, remembers that the only other person he ever heard her speak to: the bartender of the Stray Sheep, Thomas "Chop" Mutton, who accidentally reveals himself to be the orchestrator of the entire recurring-nightmare situation. "Catherine" is a succubus working with him, who takes the form of each man's fantasy woman, to tempt him into cheating. Vincent makes a deal with him to return voluntarily to the nightmare landscape and climb the final levels of the tower, in return for which Mutton will release all other captive men. Vincent, having mastered block climbing techniques, is able to win.

Being the main protagonist, Vincent appears in every single ending.

Catherine: Full Body[]

Vincent's role in Full Body is, for the most part, the same in the original game. However, the game shows more of his history, such as his time in high school and various memories with Katherine.

In present day, Vincent also bumps into a mysterious girl suffering from amnesia named Rin. Vincent helps Rin find an apartment right beside his as the previous tenant just moved out. He also helps her get a pianist job at the Stray Sheep, after Rin has a successful job interview with Mutton.

Throughout several days, Vincent's friendship with Rin begins to develop. Rin tries to get closer to Vincent at times, which makes him feel uncomfortable.

VincentSlapsRin

Vincent slaps Rin's hand.

On Day 6, due to a mishap, Vincent finds out that Rin is a male cross-dresser. Vincent reacts poorly, slapping Rin's hand away as a kneejerk reaction. However, this is due to shock and confusion instead of malice and homophobia. Vincent immediately feels guilt over it, apologizes to Rin after being reprimanded by Erica.

Depending on the player's actions, Vincent may choose to prioritize Rin over Katherine and Catherine, which unlocks a new route. Vincent's nightmare in the eighth night is then altered. In it, Vincent sees Catherine defiling Rin's murdered body with a knife, spilling blood all over Rin's piano and toys. Vincent flees to safety in his room, although Katherine tries to murder him too. He defends himself from Catherine and Katherine, but is saved from the real Rin, as the dead one is an illusion, although Rin gets a cut on his leg. Rin follows Vincent in the nightmare stage as they flee from monster Catherine, although Rin gets abducted by the creature.

Later, Vincent discovers Rin is still alive and is being held hostage in the nightmares by Mutton. After Vincent defeats Mutton, Rin and Vincent reunite (depending on the route, Rin and Vincent may confess their love and kiss, or they may simply enter the door which defeats Mutton).

RinVincentCreature

Rin and Vincent face Big Brother.

In the True/Good Ending routes, at the Stray Sheep, they relax and Rin reveals that he belongs to a race which are considered "angels" in Vincent's world. However, they are confronted by a strange angelic-looking being who Rin reveals is his brother. Archangel wishes to bring Rin back home with him, which both Rin and Vincent oppose. The brother prepares to destroy humanity, but Rin convinces him to let Vincent try to prove himself first by partaking in a trial, similar to the preceding nightmares. If Vincent wins, humanity will not be destroyed and Rin can stay with Vincent.

  • Rin Bad Ending: After defeating Mutton, Rin leaves Vincent while wishing him the best. Vincent hopes to see Rin again one day and wants to better himself, so he takes up learning guitar, but sucks at playing it.
RinAliens

Vincent meets Rin's alien family.

  • Rin Good Ending: After defeating Mutton, Rin is revealed to be part of an alien race of "angels" after his brother challenges Vincent to a final challenge to determine mankind's fate; Vincent wins, and he and Rin become a couple.
RinTrueEnd1

Rin and Vincent marry.

  • Rin True Ending: Same as the Good Ending but with an extra scene where several months later, Rin is seen performing at a piano concert in space for a group of aliens and Vincent's friends. Vincent reveals that he is working as Rin's music producer, helping to share his piano playing through space. Rin and Vincent get married in the post credits.

  • "You suck at your job." (to Boss)

Etymology[]

The name Vincent is derived from the Roman name Vincentius, which is derived from the Latin word "vincere" (to conquer). This could be an allusion to Vincent conquering the blocks in the nightmares. His name and appearance are inspired by Vincent Gallo who directed and starred in Buffalo '66, which was also a major influence on him and Catherine.[6]

Brooks is a toponymic surname that is thought to have been derived residing near a stream (or brook) from both the Swedish surname Bäckland, meaning bäck "brook, stream" and lund "grove". Connie mentions in the ending that "the ferry was late", implying Vincent lives near a body of water. "Brooks" may also be a reference to Vincent's anxious nature, as he's often sweating streams.

The Trivia for Tonight.....[]

Boxers
  • Vincent's pink polka-dotted boxers were a pre-order item. His pink RA💘E shirt was exclusive to Europeans.[7]
  • A misconception is that Vincent is of Asian or Japanese descent. While this is possible, it has never been officially proven and there is evidence suggesting otherwise, such as his Western-sounding name, his blue eyes, and according to an official Atlus employee, Catherine is "set in an undefined American town/city."[8] (although it is actually set in what seems to be an American space colony). The same applies to Katherine, who is never confirmed to be of Asian or Japanese descent either. The only one confirmed to be of Asian descent is Jonny according to the official novelization.
    • Vincent may be of Italian descent. The actor Vincent is modeled after, Vincent Gallo, is of Italian descent. Vincent also has "Italian" written on his jacket, plus three colored stripes of red, white and green which represent the flag of Italy.
Crucify

The crucifixion painting.

  • In the Confessionals, there is a strange surreal painting of what seems to be Vincent crucified on a female symbol (♀). As Vincent climbs higher, more sheep begin to fill the painting. It is never explained why this is, although one may interpret it as Vincent being haunted and guilt-tripped by the deaths of any sheep he may have contributed to, due to the aggressive dog-eat-dog-world attitude that can help the sheep survive. The player is bound to kill some of the climbers, whether it be accidental or intentional.
VincentTired

Vincent looking more tired.

  • As the days go by in the game, Vincent looks more tired, to the point his bangs eventually cover an eye. Vincent's friends who experience the nightmares also look more tired as well.
  • Vincent could be viewed as a rape victim while Catherine could be viewed as his rapist. It can be argued that Vincent's first drunken hookup with Catherine was consensual, since they might have both been drunk at the time. However, Vincent can't remember it in the morning, or any of their other sexual encounters either. It is unknown if she ever actually had sex with Vincent during the events of the main story, and there are arguments both ways. However, the Immoral Beast, the fact that Catherine wakes up next to Vincent naked, and in Vincent's dream, she says to Katherine that Vincent is a wild man in the sack, implying that they had sex. However, this only occurred in one of Vincent's dreams. However, it can then be counter-argued that Vincent's reality would, naturally, affect his dreams and his subconscious.
    • Vincent being a rape victim may be a dual meaning of what his RA💘E t-shirt alludes to. Although some claim it means "rave," there has been no official confirmation. The "arrow in a heart" symbol is associated with Cupid who is portrayed as a god who forces people to fall in love, much like how Catherine uses her succubus powers on Vincent.
  • If the player dies and chooses to return to the main menu (which they are forced to do if they have no Mystic Pillows left), the player is shown Vincent's desiccated and frozen corpse, with an expression of horror.[9]
ShadowVincentArt

Shadow of Vincent.

Shadow_of_Vincent

Shadow of Vincent

Shadow of Vincent.

  • The canned beer he drinks at home is labeled, "atlus BEER."
  • Vincent's plot between Katherine and Catherine represents one of the tales of the Lovers Arcana, where a man is seen talking with two women, one young and blond (Catherine), and the other one black haired and more mature looking (Katherine). Both of them are dressed the same (red and blue), while a Cupid sitting in a star waiting to shoot one of his arrows at one of them. This represents the dilemma of choosing between physical desire (Catherine) or romantic and intellectual attraction (Katherine).

Cameo in Persona3 Portable

  • Vincent has a brief appearance in Persona 3 Portable at Club Escapade as "Man Drinking Alone," where he briefly talks about his nightmares to the protagonist (whether male or female).[10] In P3P, he is drawn with a mole under his left eye, while he has no mole in Catherine. He is unusual for a Persona unnamed NPC in that he already has his own character portrait. Catherine was developed alongside P3P. Vincent mentions his girlfriend's pregnancy test is positive, implying Catherine occurs during P3P. However, Vincent did not go to Japan during Catherine (as Catherine is set in an American space colony), and Catherine occurs in April, and he can be met in non-April months during P3P, so it is likely his appearance in P3P is simply a non-canon Easter egg which is not meant to be taken seriously.
  • On the side of his shirt, the number 2009 is on there, an Easter egg regarding his appearance in Persona 3 Portable.
  • Vincent has a cameo in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. A figurine of a boxer-clad Vincent and figurines of the sheep that represent other cursed men in his nightmares appear as targets in the school festival's shooting gallery.
  • When Boss talks to Vincent he mentions Vincent’s father, implying that his father might also have been victim of the seduction of a succubus, which could explain the departure of his mother.
  • Because one of Vincent’s potential love interests is Rin, a male crossdresser, he can be seen as a bisexual character. He repeatedly mentions not caring that Rin is a boy in his route.[12]
